Billing

Understand Team plans, purchased seats, billing status, renewal, and authoritative subscription state.

Scylla Workbench billing controls the organization's paid subscription state and purchased Team seat quantity.

Payment details are handled by the billing provider. Scylla stores and uses the authoritative plan, subscription status, seat quantity, and entitlement state needed by the product.

Billing and seats

These are different concepts:

Purchased seats

How many Team seats the organization is paying for.

Assigned seats

How many purchased seats are currently assigned to organization members.

Example:

Purchased: 5
Assigned: 3
Available: 2

Changing purchased quantity does not choose which members receive those seats.

See Seat Assignment.

Billing page

Depending on your role, the authenticated Team console may show:

  • current plan;
  • subscription status;
  • purchased seat quantity;
  • renewal/current-period information;
  • monthly/annual billing options;
  • billing-management actions.

Members without billing authority may not see editing controls.

Checkout return is not entitlement

This is an important rule:

Returning to Scylla from a successful checkout page does not itself grant a license or create authoritative seat state.

Scylla waits for verified server-side billing state.

That prevents a browser redirect from becoming the source of truth for licensing.

If the billing page still shows the previous quantity immediately after checkout, wait for or refresh the authoritative subscription state rather than manually assuming the purchase has propagated.

Changing seat quantity

If your role allows it:

  1. Open Billing.
  2. Review the current purchased quantity.
  3. Enter the desired new quantity.
  4. Choose the applicable billing action/cadence.
  5. Complete the provider-hosted payment flow when required.
  6. Return to the Team console.
  7. Confirm the server now reports the updated quantity.
  8. Assign newly available seats to members.

Do not use a new seat until the Team console reflects the authoritative purchased quantity.

Monthly and annual billing

The Billing UI may present monthly and annual Team options.

Choose the option appropriate for the organization. The actual amount and current plan terms shown in the Workbench site at the time of purchase are authoritative.

Documentation should not be used as a substitute for the live checkout total.

Subscription status

Common account-level states can include active, trial/evaluation, past due, canceled, incomplete, or other payment-processing states depending on the billing system.

The Team console should show the state returned by the billing backend.

Do not infer active licensing merely from an old local desktop state if the organization subscription has changed.

Past-due billing

If the account is past due:

  1. Use the billing-management action provided in the Team console.
  2. Correct the payment issue with the billing provider.
  3. Return to Scylla and refresh authoritative account state.
  4. Confirm seats and entitlements have recovered.

Do not enter card details into Scylla Agent chat or support messages.

Invoices and payment details

Use the billing-management/portal flow exposed by the Team console for payment method and invoice functions supported by the billing provider.

Scylla should not require you to paste full payment-card details into its own application forms unless the provider's secure embedded flow explicitly handles them.

Removing seats

Reducing purchased quantity can affect future availability.

Before reducing seats:

  • review current assignments;
  • release seats that are no longer needed;
  • confirm the new quantity will still cover required Team members.

Billing quantity and member removal are separate operations.

Billing and desktop activation

A purchased Team subscription alone does not activate every desktop.

The person must:

  1. be a Team member;
  2. have a seat assigned;
  3. sign into Scylla desktop with the correct Scylla Account.

See Desktop Team Activation.

Common problems

Checkout succeeded but Team still shows the old seat count

Refresh after the verified billing state has processed. The browser return is not authoritative.

We have purchased seats, but a member cannot activate

Check whether a seat is assigned to that member.

A member was removed but purchased quantity did not change

Expected. Membership and billing quantity are separate.

Billing controls are missing

Your organization role may not have billing authority.
