Scylla

Windows Native

Give Scylla its own Windows account boundary.

Scylla Workbench’s native Windows edition is built with WinUI 3 and supports Run as different user. Keep your normal desktop session while launching the workbench under an account with the permissions its work requires. This workflow has been extensively tested in the native build.

Choose the access the task needs.

A dedicated account lets you grant Scylla access to required projects and tools while restricting unrelated client repositories, personal documents, and administrative resources. Windows enforces the permissions assigned to that account.

Native or Electron?

Choose Native when a dedicated Windows identity is part of your workflow. Compare release-specific requirements and capabilities on Downloads.

Set up and verify.

  1. Create or choose a Windows account for the intended work.
  2. Grant it access to Scylla, required tools, and approved working directories.
  3. Launch the native application with Run as different user.
  4. Verify that required resources are accessible and excluded resources are denied.
  5. Check identities and permissions used by helpers, services, and remote connections.

The boundary depends on the account and resource permissions you configure. Shared folders may remain accessible, and remote-service credentials determine that service’s access. Scylla policy and Windows permissions work together.
